State of the Art Manufacturing
devices, Freezer Plants to Converting devices to state of the art
technology.
In 1993 a U.S.
based company in Colombo approached me to be their service engineer for
a new type of industrial printer to be marketed in South Asia. Their
candidate required Electronics, Computer Hardware and Software
skills, together with an understanding of Pneumatics.
Since I was
excellent in the first three and was a bit shy of the fourth
(pneumatics) I was selected and trained at their lab/training facility
in the asia/pacific (Singapore).
Thereafter, I
headed the entire engineering and support operation and this company
soon became the market leader in Sri Lanka, with installations in the
Maldives.
I pioneered the
24hour support methodology and trained personnel and customers on the
usage and maintenance of these machines.
During this project
I also worked on other machinery such as packaging, bottling plants,
Gamma Ray empty bottle and fill level inspectors, colour analysers,
ovens and various (numerous) other devices which are used in a host of
manufacturing environments. I also assembled and manufactured proximity
sensors and tacho generators for use with with these machines for
temporary and prolonged use until the manufacturers recommended parts
were delivered.
During the latter
part of 2004, I was contracted by a fish storage company to verify that
the specifications of their freezer plant provider was actually
suitable for the task. The plant was required to store 500 Tons of
Tuna. This project required me to study the anatomy of the Tuna as the
Tuna is quite different to other fish, and also, the huge volume. I
embarked on a 3 week full time research into the freezing requirement
and defined a specification and methodology for the Tuna freezing
process.
Currently I
provide repair and maintenance services for the hi-tech devices to
factories, and am
currently engaged in converting an existing machine to a state of the
art computer controlled system.
