Hardware is specifically the art of upgrading, assembling and reparing computers and devices at a board level rather than a component level, as opposed to electronics which involves a component level approach.

I am sure by now you have a good understanding of my electronic capabilities.

Needless to say, todate, my team and I provide hardware maintenance and repair services to clients. We do not simply replace a multitude of boards until the problem is solved. Rather, we take an engineering approach and use my electronic, software, hardware and other skills to arrive at the probable cause of the problem. In most instances machine fails because of thermal dynamics. For example, ventilation means that there must be a place for cold or fresh air to enter the room and another place for it to exit. We have found that in most instance computer and devices fail by overheating due to the lack of this basic understandingof ventilation. The human body perspires but a computer doesn't.

I generally carry out a component repair if the need is great (for example, lack of spares or hard disk failure). I have successfully repaird many failed hard disk by board substitution or component replacement as the data in the hard disk has been valuable for the customer, or me.

A customer of mine, quite understandably, remarked that 'Computer engineers are not engineers'. He was quite frustrated at the fact that his service provider had failed to repair his computer successfully after replacing so many parts in the computer. The solution was, simply, ventilation.

The personal computers of today generate quite a lot of heat and are extremely hi-tech and fragile. As a contributor to 'PC Magazine' pointed out 'Gone are the days when a person with a screwdriver could assemble a PC'.

Please read on to the Machinery and Communication sections to see how my electronic, software and hardware skills have been beneficial to these projects.
